37thResEx 1.0 is a simple application for extracting resources from a file. It has two modes:
*** Mode 1 ***: Drag&Drop (automatic extraction).
After dragging on one or more files, a window will notify if resources of type 'snd ', 'TEXT', 'XCMD','XFCN','PICT', 'ICON' and icon family ('ICN#','ics#','icn4' etc.) exist.
You may quit, continue to analyze more dragged files or extract resources.
37thResEx 1.0, in Drag&Drop mode, extracts all the resources of selected types. You can move the extracted resources into an existing file (selecting "Add to file") or in a new one. With "Add to file" option checked, 37thResEx 1.0 creates the "unique ID" automatically.
Files created by 37thResEx 1.0 are named: "[resType]ID[ID]" and saved in a new folder named: "37th[resType].ƒ->[source name]". If a folder with the same name already exists (?!) 37thResEx 1.0 saves the files outside that folder, and if files with the same name already exist outside that folder (?!?!) 37thResEx 1.0 overwrites them (at last!!).
All created files have type 'rsrc' and creator 'RSED', except files containing 'snd ' resources, which have type 'sfil" ad creator "movr" (to play them by double-clicking...)
All the resources in the new files maintain original ID and name, except icon families (because these files, created by 37thResEx 1.0, will show such icon on the desktop, so you can copy/cut the icon from 'Get Info' window).
When 37thResEx 1.0, in scanning files, finds resources of type 'TEXT', it looks also for related 'styl' resources. In case of icon families, first searches a resource of type 'ICN#', and then related ones...
Press shift to exit while working.
*** Mode 2 ***: Application (custom extraction).
After launching 37thResEx 1.0 by double clicking its icon you choose a file by button or menu item "File to scan". The name of the file will show in the main window while, in menu "Resource type", all its resources will show. From this menu you select a resource type: this will be shown in the "Resource type" field of the main window. The menu "Resource ID" will show the ID numbers of all existing resources of chosen type, and selecting an ID it will show in the main window, with the resource name. Now you can extract the resource (!). If you move the extracted resource in a new file, you can assign type & creator to the file itself, while if you add it to an existing file, the "unique ID" option is available.
Be careful: if "unique ID" is not checked and, in the destination file, a resource
of same type with same ID exists, the file will be damaged.
*******
NOTE: 37thResEx 1.0 copy all resource attributes except 'Protect', because to copy it would damage the destination file. 37thResEx 1.0 sets all related resource attributes as main.
37thResEx 1.0 supports the dragging of many files. If you like to increase its capacity, you need only to increase the allocated memory.
37thResEx 1.0 requires at least System 7 to run.
